Therapie

Schüler (19) – August 2005

I remember when I was around 10 years old, I used to have problems communicating with people. At that time, I went to a school therapist who helped me improve it. As my life went on, I would only stutter occasionally.

However, during my second last year in high school, I was expelled because I smoked marijuana off campus with four friends of mine. This was the extreme marking point of when my stuttering was at its worst. I stuttered because my parents had lost all trust in me, and I felt that everyone especially the parents and the teachers in my old school thought negatively towards my previous actions. This period of my life brought my self-esteem to an all time low. When I would confront and talk to people, I would always think they were judging me, which made me feel insecure and nervous and led me to stutter.

My father luckily had noticed my recurrent stuttering and came across Alfred Beyelers speech therapy program on the internet. When I first went to Alfred with my father, I knew then and there that his therapy would be good for me.

I saw Alfred two to three times a week for three months, and I noticed the results immediately. Alfred and I built a friendship, which helped me with my self-esteem and he made me feel more comfortable about myself. With time I was reading poems like Shakespeare, slowly, loudly and clearly, with all my emotions, and then I began speaking that way to everyone.

I am now cured of stuttering and have realized that the problem was only in my head. I am now going to a college in the US, stutter free, and I am very grateful that I saw and got to know Alfred.

One more positive aspect being together with Alfred helped me to get off marijuana. Thanks so much for everything!
